I have returned home from spending 3 weeks in North America

I was there as Assistant Coach to the Australian Open Team (the Dingos) at the World Ultimate Championships.

Pictures from Worlds are here.

The team did a pre tour through the US before heading to Canada so I got to check out some sites along the way:

Wilson - RIP

Sadly we had to take Wilson back to Lort Smith to be put down.

Unfortunately it seems he had a strong dislike to some dogs and would get very aggressive towards them. Despite our best efforts he was uncontrollable around other dogs and with heavy hearts we had to follow the advice of the experst at Lort Smith.

We take solace in knowing that he probably had the best 6 weeks of his life with us. He got to have a steak and a lovely play off the leash down by the Maribyrnong River on his last days.

Thanks Wilson, we miss you.

Wilson

Now that Tegan and I know that we can have a dog at our new house - we got one now!

We got Wilson from the Lort Smith Animal Hospital, which is the same place I got my last dog, Betsy.

Wilson is a 4 yo Lab, but he is a bit smaller than a normal lab. He is very quite and gentle, but doesn't seem to get on well with other dogs so far.

Central Australia Trip

Teegs and I spent 2 weeks over the new year travelling around Central Australia.

We had a wonderful time, despite the heat. Most days involved getting up at dawn, going for a great walk. Then afternoons were spent lounging by rockholes reading a book, when we got too hot lounging, we would dive into the rockhole and then repeat all afternoon. Lovely!

Map of our journey:

We first went to the East Macs and Trephina Gorge. Then we drove down to Uluru and Katajuta, up to Kings Canyon, then tackled the Mereenie Loop to the West Macs.

Us and our trusty vehicle:

Teegs at Uluru:
Teegs and I at the Sounds of Silence dinner - watch the sunset over Uluru then dinner under the stars:
Kings Canyon - we swum at an amazing waterhole behind the tree in the middle of the shot:

The Mereenie Loop:
Decoration along the Mereenie Loop:
The amazing meteorite site at Gosse Bluff (140 million years old and 5km wide!):
Redbank Gorge - we followed the freezing water up 6 rock pools crammed in between the gorge walls:

The beautiful Mt Sonder which we walked to the top of - one of the best walk I have ever been on:
Ormiston Gorge:
