Tegan and I

Just thought that I could add a picture here of Tegan and myself.

We've been going out now for nearly 3 months, but it feels like forever (in a good way)!

Ohhh, how sweet.

Finished At Last [Take 2]

Unfortunately I haven't quite "Finished at Last". I didn't quite pass my design subject (in fact I was "singularly disappointing").

However I have been given the opportunity to do a Supplementary Exam which will involve a 2-3 day design exam starting on January 17.

This is all good and I am currently trying to work out how to study for a Design Exam.

Imagine

Today is the 25th anniversary of the assassination of John Lennon.
What a tragic loss, but what a tremendous talent and inspiration.

If only we could act as if this is the way the world really is - then it would be so:

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Some of my favourite films that were in the list:
10. Fight Club

The best film of all time: "Groundhog Day"

Also missing: "Heat" (De Niro and Pacino) , "Blood Simple" (Coen Brothers), "Adaptation" (Nicholas Cage) and "The Royal Tenenbaums" (Gene Hackman).

More on the best movies of all time to come...later.

Incomparable angst and joy

The wind whispers through the trees and the goats herd the lions.
Somewhere under starry sky the moon watches and hopes.
No one answers the questions that tick at the back of their mind.
Until the end the day will break, spreading incomparable angst and joy.

U2 - Vertigo Tour

I have tickets to U2!!!!!

On Monday I found out I could get early access to tickets to U2's Vertigo tour because I was a member of U2.com.

This meant I could buy 4 tickets the next day!!!! After 20 mins of trying to refresh the ticketmaster site (they were busy due to excess traffic) I managed to get 4 tickets to the Brisbane show. My oh my am I happy.

Now I just need to wait until Monday to get the tickets for the Melbourne show!

Foo Fighters

Monday night I went and saw the Foo Fighters play!

We had general admission tickets right up the front ('we' were myself and David plus some of his friends (Beth and Luke - who happens to work with one of the frisbee boys, Marco))

We got there early and manged to get a spot just 4 people from the front and just to the right of centre stage.

The first support act was pretty crazy - the bass player dislocated his knee during the third song! We saw him fall to the ground and then throw off his bass. Thought he was just screwing around but then a roadie came out and helped him to the side where he slumped beside a speaker. He then asked for his bass and kept playing, and singing!!! He was clearly in a lot of pain but kept on going. After they stopped playing he was helped into a wheelchair and was taken to hospital! He recieved thunderous applause for his efforts (which compensated for the quality of their music or lack thereof)

Kaiser Cheifs were the next support band who were quite good and energetic and have that "I predict a riot" song.

Anyway, finally Foo Fighters came on (after the drummer had teased us by throwing his drumstick above a screen which hid the band while they set up)

I couldn't belive that it was actually Dave Grohl right there in front of me!!!

The show was awesome. Very loud, very powerful and intense.

The crowd was a bit pushy at the start and I just slipped back a few meters to get more comfortable.

Best songs were "Everlong"; which started soft with just Dave on guitar and then went nuts, "Stacked Actors"; which went for 10 minutes including a middle section where Dave ran through the crowd to the back and had a play off with the guitarist over Heartbreaker by zepplin, and "Monkey Wrench" which was the last song, during which I started jumping up and down and somehow drifted further and further to the front and middle of the crowd and ended up just in front of Dave with what felt like hundreds of sweaty bodies pressed up against me. After the show I managed to snare one of several of Dave's guitar picks which were thrown into the crowd which I ended up giving to Dave. It took two showers to feel like I had removed all the other peoples sweat from my body. Uhhhhh.

I pushed the car out of the carpark just for fun (people let us in out of sympathy) and then went home after a delighful and eventful evening.

Six Feet Under

Just bought the Third and Forth Season of Six Feet Under on DVD.

This has to be one of the best TV shows ever. It is so emotionaly intense.

I hate the character of Lisa though, she is so infuriating!

She dies soon, which is good :-)

Finished At Last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I handed in my final Design assignement!

After 8 years it may all be over.

I have 1 last thing to hand in tomorrow which I hope to hand in now as well and then it is done!

I start work back at project services next week so I have this week off.

Will hangout with my friend from Melbourne, Thomas, and probably play some frisbee.

Also - U2 ARE COMING TO AUSTRALIA NEXT YEAR - what a relief!
